Its insane! The Twilight Saga has officialy taken over the world. From the USA to the UK, there is nowhere I can walk around without being reminded that New Moon is launching in exactly 38 hours. Being a fan of Twilight, I have been patiently waiting for New Moon to come out in theatres, but as with any movie sequels, I am always skeptical about sequels. Well let me tell you, this time it was different, New Moon was ridiculously good in my opinion, and I am already starting the countdown for Eclipse!

Maintaining the timeline of the first Twilight Movie, the second one, New Moon picks up a few months on from where we last left Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her one of a kind vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). The movie puts us under the impression that everything is going blissfully well for both of them, until an unexpected incident happens at Bella’s 18th birthday, which eventually forces Edward to leave town, and Bella, for good.

Obviously sent into a deepened depression due to Edward disappearing, Bella slowly begins to come out of her shell again thanks to her good friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner), but it’s only a matter of time until complications arise, since Jacob has a deep secret of his own.

Discovering that when she puts herself in danger she can see Edward again, Bella begins to become more and more reckless and an attempt at cliff diving starts a chain of events that concludes with a face to face encounter with the most feared of all vampires, The Volturi.

In layman’s terms New Moon is a bolder, bigger and if I may say, a greater movie than Twilight, the first of the Twilight Saga. Not many sequels can do what I have seen here, the film makers get your attention from the very beginning and make you feel as if you are part of the Twilight universe, up there with Bella and Edward.

A few changes in the theme of the movie, as well as how the scenes are directed, suit the Twilight Saga theme much better than how the first movie was made. Also, thanks to the undeniable success of the first Twilight at the box office, it allowed for a bigger budget, thus producing a bigger movie, which can immediately be seen on screen. I can easily say that the movie, characters and screenplay looks much more authentic, none of the cheap vampire skin sparkle anymore.

One thing I must say though is that the whole werefolf scenes kind of misplace you a bit and take you out of context, simply because they actually look way too computer generized and it made me feel as if I’m watching some sci-fi alien movie, which I personally dislike.

Director Chris Weitz and writer Melissa Rosenberg have managed to do something that not many are truly successful at here though, and that is taking a book and bringing it to life without editing or watering down the source material. Even if that does mean cutting the screen time of teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson, a brave move as he really has become the face of the franchise more than any other.

I can go on and on, but I will not spoil the movie for those of you who are impatiently waiting,
